Out of The Box

I recently had an alarming number of epiphanies in my life, emerging from the ashes of my childhood as a young adult. One of the most prominent things that I have realized is this: I am not financially taken care of forever. Soon, I will be my own breadwinner.

Most of my life so far has consisted of a box. I lived in that box. everything that I needed was in the box, or brought to the box. My food? It’s right here, in the box. My Clothes? Oh yeah, right here, next to the college fund. Everything I need is right here, in the box.

I can’t live in this box forever. I will eventually have to provide the food, provide the clothes. I will have to be my own person. That is Kind of scary.

Imagine being taken care of for your whole life, and then that just stopped all of the sudden. That’s how I’m worried it it going to happen. I have friends who have saved THOUSANDS of dollars for college, because that is the only way they will be able to go to school. I have friends who have been studying very hard all their life for a scholarship, because that is the only way they will get into college PERIOD. It makes me kind of sad, but I know that is the way it is gonna go down. Me, actually in a job, probably having to wear a tie, just to thrive in today’s society. That is a scary thought!

This is the first ever MWP awards! Where I, Gabriel, will discuss some of my four favorite up-and-coming talents in the music world.

The Bridges

The Bridges is a great band consisting of 5 members ranging in age from 18 to 24. consists of siblings Natalie Byrd (Piano and guitar) Stacey Byrd (guitar) Isaaca Byrd (bass) Jeremy Byrd (drums) and cousin Brittany Painter, who provides hauntingly expressive lead vocals and plays acoustic guitar. Brittany writes most of the bands lyrics, with all five collaborating on the music.”We didn’t care about making it perfect or polished; we wanted it to be real and organic and emotional. It’s kind of raw in some ways, and maybe there are some flaws, but they’re our flaws. I think it sounds like us.” says Natalie Byrd about the band’s new album, Limits Of The Sky. The Bridges are one to watch.

ADELE

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins is a very talented songwriter and singer. Her first album, 19, was released when she was only, you guessed it, nineteen. Adele began to garner attention with her soulfully delicious voice.her song, Hometown Glory, is on my top 50 list of songs.

Ahmad Jones

Ahmad Jones is an avid participant in the Christian hip-hop community. He even coined his own genre, entitled “hiprocksoul”.  Ahmad is a classic punk with his pink beard and stereo on his shoulder, and it shines through in his music. “overloaded” is a classic example of why they will succeed. The song blends great lyrics, great vocals, and fantastic music to create a vivid tale of a tortured man in todays society.Ahmad Jones, your going places!

The Veronicas

This sisterhood duo consists of 20 year old identical twins Jess and Lisa Origliasso from Brisbane, Australia.

The twins are amazingly talented, with 2 albums and 46 songs, the veronicas’ ghostly voices and haunting melodies are what every beginning act should aspire to be. With such dynamic hits as “4ever” and “untouched”, this group isn’t going anywhere but up.

The MWP awards!

The Musicians With Potential awards are a new list of up-and-coming musicians with heaps of potential.
Coming soon, I will list my top 20 musicians with potential, from Indie to Pop, to Rock, and maybe some Country, if I’m in a good mood.

Pen Pal

So, this week my brilliant social studies teacher Ms. Kuk announced that we are going to have pen pals from Asia! They will be from one of the following countries: Japan, China, Thailand, The Philippines, Mongolia, or either of the dos koreas. I’m Pumped! Maybe this will finally get me to learn Japanese!

Sorry i haven’t been posting ya’ll, I’ve had tons of opportunities to post lately but I just haven’t. Shame on Me!

well, with that said, Here is the rest of the post.

About 3 weeks ago, Uncle Matthew contacted me and asked me if me and my good friend caleb wouldn’t mind making a 5 minute weekly video for the tween class of The Rock Church. We reluctantly obliged(not really reluctantly, we called him back practically before the first call was over).

So, now me and caleb are making a weekly video of WHATEVER we want to!

If I can figure out how, I’ll post the first 2 episodes to the site very,very soon!

Oh My Goodness!

i can’t believe it’s finally happened! Reagan Printy, my adorabley cute cousin, now has a little sister!

her name is Rylee Lyric Printy came into the world at about 12:07 PM today!

I am sure she is extremely adorable!

if I can find some, I will post some pictures of her later today or early tomorrow.

Saturday Saturday Saturday!

My mom is throwing a HUGEMONGUS party tomorrow at our church for all the children’s ministry staff.

That is definitely a gifted group of volunteers I’ll tell you that much!

It was originally going to be at our Casa Loco, but because of the hideously foul weather it is now taking place at the Rock of Wilmington!

We have the following: 1 huge inflatable pool, 1 three area slip ‘n’ slide, and 1 ton of food!

so If you do work in the children’s ministry, PLEASE don’t pass up this opportunity for fun, fellowship, and food. By the way, those are the 3Rs of church!.

100 reasons why my dad is the best

here are 100 reasons why my dad is the greatest!

1. He can be funny sometimes
2. pretty good taste
3. not too dorky, just enough to know how to fix a computer
4. fun to hang out with

8. has a sense of humor
9. he goes big, or he goes home
10. has great friends
11. has awesome kids! especially his eldest one

13. me, noah, and adam are the third most loved things in his life.

18. hey, he lets me live in his house, and he feeds & clothes me.(well, that one doesn’t really count because according to law he kinda has to or he could be ,like, arrested!)

20. understands kids and teens and everything in between (unlike a lot of parents who tries to “relate” with us.

WiiMania!

have any of you tried to get  a wii lately? if you have, you have probably experienced the frenzy going on this week. See, This whole big program for Nintendo Wii came out recently called WiiFit, which has been called “A fitness revolution!”It has FLOWN off the shelves! But to play WiiFit, you obviously need a Wii, so there are NO wiis anywhere retail wise in Wilmington. How do I know?

Well, my whole family decided yesterday that we really want a wii console. Totally unrelated to WiiFit. We have either called or gone to every store in Wilmington looking for a wii. EVERYBODY was sold out!

This morning I looked online at refreshthing.com to see if any wiis were available anywhere.

Dad: No. I don’t have any.

Tuesday Afternoon Brain Dump! (tabd)

So much has happened this past week!

• spent Sunday afternoon & half of Monday at my good friend Michael’s house
• Schools Out!!!!!
• one of my best-est friends and one of my favorite people, Ms. Lisa June Forstener, will be watching us( the McGee trio) all summer!
• Schools Out!!!!!
• My brother Adam ( who is currently my favorite 7 year old, until he turns 8 that is!) had abdominal surgery today, he’s doing awesome!
• The rock of Wilmington youth group (Flip-Side) embarked on a myrtle beach journey for The Way conference, and one of my other best-est friends and favorite people Ms. Megan, who also watches the McGee trio on Wednesday & Thursday in the school year,went with them to supervise.
• my grandmother is back !!! she was helping my Uncle Milton take care of my Aunt Christy who is suffering from a brain tumor
• Noah and I went to the Williamson families house today and spent about four hours in their pool!

So My Uncle, Who is like the king of awesomeness( aside from me of course ;P) proposed to to Ms. Jen Roush. Wow. That is like, amazing.

Easter

Yesterday, as most of you probably know, was easter. Easter is considered a religious holiday observing the ressurection of Jesus Christ.

It was a completely amazing Sunday at my church, The Rock Wilmington. After church we went to my grandparents house who are both pastors at my church. This year I was to old to hunt for eggs, so I hid them instead! It was fun

Also, my grandmother Norma McGee gave me a huge bag full of candy to substitute  all the candy inside the easter eggs I was missing out on.

My favorite thing in the bag was definitely a bar of Cacao Reserve by Hershey , it is probably the best chocolate bar EVER.

Ness

My good friend Ms. Jen (see wall of awesomeness) and I where discussing the word Awesomeness and decided it needed shortening.

the shortening resulted in this word: Ness.

American Idol

So, I was just reading Reality Rocks, a yahoo blog that talks about reality TV shows, specifically American Idol, The syndicated and praised Fox show that attracts millions of viewers weekly. The article said that AA is thinking about bringing back the Wildcard Policy that allows one person that has been voted off to come back to the top 10 ( there will be 11 if this happens).

Of all the people that got voted off, my two least favorite have been Danny and Amanda ( Cruella Deville)

But I dislike Danny intensely!

So, join me in prayer that Danny WILL NOT COME BACK TO AMERICAN IDOL!!!!!
